Independence Day

To celebrate the Fourth of July we took the kids to the parade yesterday, then stayed at the park for several more hours waiting to see the fireworks.

It was so funny. The kids got tons of candy from the parade. They were on a sugar buzz like you can't believe. Then just five minutes before the fireworks started, they crashed. My son slept through the finale which was unbelievably loud and bright. He was so mad when we woke him up to go.

They girls actually stayed awake, but they were so exhausted from running around like crazy that they kept saying the noise and light hurt their heads.

All in all, I'd say it was a successful holiday.

I respect and admire other countries and their people, and I'm humbled to have been born in the United States of America. I love this country. God bless America. We certainly need it.

My husband and I took our 3 kids to see fireworks this summer. We sat too close to where they were shooting them off. We kept dodging cinders and were covered with ashes. Great show but next year we'll sit a little farther back.
