The Stars That Sing
by Amy M. Smith

The dark blanket of sky
is nightly specked
with shimmering pockets of light

shining and dancing
on their infinite plain,
the stars burst through the nullity.

But some shine more brightly than others--
singing their brilliance
and diverting the onlooker's eye,

as if these stars,
so high and close to heaven,
have secrets to share with the sleeping world.
