The Ransom of Planet X

Karen A. Romanko

Poetry
Science Fiction

We were out Sol's way,
angling for goodies,
but Sunny's a miser,
and won't tend to share

So we figured to snatch
one of his kiddies--
the littlest guy--
most precious, we thought

We didn't know his name,
so we called the boy, "Xray,"
the easier to write
on our ransom demand

But His Luminance replied,
"I've got eight already,
and I'm rather uncertain
that runt's really mine"

So now we've got X
in our dark, icy hideout
He's running in circles,
and we're stuck with the brat
